I'm home. Travel was uneventful. I do not want to talk about the interpersonal interactions.

I have furniture now! My own dresser, and a highboy in the library, with a fold out desk. Plus the fishtank - but it's filthy, so I have to clean it, and let it run for a week before getting fishies.

It may be a while before I go back to Philadelphia.

Fishiesfishiesfishies.

That good a visit, huh?

How big is the tank?

Gah. I love my parents. They are good people. However, their friends are a cavalcade of assholes, and as I get more healthy emotionally, I seem to be less equipped to handle their own issues. I've a lot of work to do in that arena.

However, I misspoke - it'll just be a while before I tell them when I'm in town. There are some nice B & B's in Center City for not much money.

The tank's a ten-gallon, and I've got all the accessories, including a heater, if I eventually decide to do tropicals. However, remember my dad's luck with fish? I'm going to start with some goldfish, I think - plus get one of those aquariums for dummies books.

Didn't you used to keep fish, or am I misremembering?

So it sounds like you are going to start with fresh water fish, instead of salt-water fish. If you change your mind... perhaps take a look at www.saltwaterfish.com they have some great information and a good message board too.

We have salt-water fish... its a hobby of mine, and an obsession of S's *laughs*. We love them.

All fish tanks, be it fresh water or salt water, can be alot of work, but alot of fun too.

Good luck :)

Yup. I used to keep fishies, was keeping them in CA too. Only a 10 gallon tank though since landlords don't like things leaking on their industrial carpet floors. Given that this was in earthquake territory...

10 Gallons is much too small to make a salt-water aquarium. You need at least 29-30 gallons for that.

I wasn't thinking of doing saltwater, that looks like too much work. I told Dad I had stopped at a petshop and was admiring a fish called a 'platys', and he said they're frshwater tropicals, and I'd need to run the heater for them...Once the tank is clean and has been running, I'll be going to my local Petsmart, as they seem to have a fairly knowledgable staff.

Back in Chicago I used to have a really sweet ten-gallon with a curved front, and had mollies, but the ex kicked it in.

Oh, I almost forgot I had a question for you, love - do you use any sort of spyware remover for your machine? I'm 99% sure I've got spyware on mine, but I keep doing searches for a remover, and coming up with nothing that'll work on a Mac. (I'm using MacOs 10.1 - haven't wanted to spend the 200$ on Jaguar yet.)

I honestly haven't had a need for Mac spyware. Its kinda like viruses: most designers write them for the majority of machines, Windows.

Regular cleaning of the cookies file does it for me.
