Oct. 18th, 2003 06:11 amMy knitting is apparently cursed right now. I thought I'd have to use one more skein on my Faroese shawl to give it an exceptionally good, long drape, down to fingetip length, at least - this because the pattern model used about 800 yards of yarn, and I'm now at about 1000. The model must have been for a midget! It isn't even long enough to reach my wrists - I'm going to need to get 3-4 more 220 yard skeins to get it to the length I want. You see, I'm hoping to wear this in all but the most bitter weather, that's why I'm doing it in garter stitch, to get a nice thick fabric. It's useless if it's too short. Gah. I've been working on this along for about a fortnight now, and am sick unto death of it. I can't start the Icelandic shawl I want until I order two wheels of black unspun, can't dye the wool I have for my slippers until I manage to find unsweetened kool-aid packets, and don't really have yarn suited to any other patterns I have on hand. Gah. Plus, when I put the shawl aside last night, every other knitting related thing I picked up turned out wrong, from yarn breaking in the wrong place to my not being able to figure out the pattern for a cowl called a 'smoke ring' . Gah.
