Every wind that you have sailed upon, a hurricane...

Finally discovered the source of my eye swelling - an infected tooth. Antibiotics, and getting my gum opened and a drain put in (yuck, and OUCH.) should clear it right up. Ow. Ow. What perfect timing. Hopefully I'll feel better by Friday. Still dithering over costuming ideas for myself, for the two masked balls. Friday is "good faeries", Saturday "bad faeries". For bad faeries I usually do a basic "Unseelie Queen", lots of black, lots of lace, etc. No wings, though, as whacking people with them is too hard to avoid, especially at my height. For good faeries last year I did a sort of "May Queen" costume, a white gown with pink accents, white domino, and a tiara of pink and white rosebuds. It would have probably been a lovely costume on someone *other* than me, as I really don't look good in such cool colors. So bad faeries will be another iteration of the Unseelie Queen, but I'm at a total loss for good faeries. Ah, well. I'll cobble something together.

What about something along the lines of wood nymph, or maybe a naiad/Melusine? I think those colours are some of the ones I associate most with you anyway.

*nods* My day costume for Saturday is a wood nymph, as those are colors I favor very much. I'd been noodling about a naiad, since I have a blue-green silk skirt and a blue-green bellydance veil that I can wrap around me as a halter, but I'm at a *complete* loss for mask ideas for a naiad - I have foam domino masks, paints, and glitter, but putting them together in a coherent idea just seems beyond me.

There are some green kelps that live in streams and other fresh waters. Throw "freshwater green kelp" or "grass kelp" into Google Images.

Sigh. Well, that's at least taken care of. Like I mentioned, one person I knew had a bite occlusion - caused one eye to swell up from the tooth root inflammation (from the couple of teeth hitting head-on). It is really, really amazing the effect the condition of our teeth has on our health.

Glad you're on the mend.

I could definitely see you in greens and blues!

Infected *tooth*? Bleech!!!!

I had that once, when a root canal went bad. Thought I had the flu, but that's what it was. It should clear up quickly now that you've been treated.

When my wisdom teeth decided they had to be removed, I thought I had a sinus infection, what with the pain in the sinuses and my sore throat. I went to the doctor, who, after looking in my mouth, asked if I'd considered getting that infected, impacted wisdom tooth removed. He started me on antibiotics, and three days my later, my dentist removed all four wisdom teeth.

It's incredible how our teeth can affect the rest of our bodies. I hope you feel better now!

A naiad sounds like fun.
