First, a short rant. I wandered off to a website that had an utterly gorgeous collection of faery-themed t-shirts yesterday. Sir has mentioned he likes seeing me in t-shirts (I only own one right now, as I tend more to lace and ruffles) so I was elated to find something so to my tastes that he would also like. So, I checked the sizes - Large, Extra Large, and XXL. Well, so much for that, as there are much cheaper options, if I'm going for the 'girl in sack' look. Then I find a catalog that has wool-blend tights. Oh, blessed day! My freezing, skirt clad legs trembled in anticipation of oncoming warmth. On to the sizes....Small - 99-145 pounds, so far so good, but the smalls are only for people 5'1" to 5'5" in height. I'm 6'2". The closest to my height is the extra large, sized for people 5'4" to 5'9", and 154 - 190 pounds. So, I either get a pair that will hang in folds off of me, or a pair nearly a foot too short. I hate my body, I can't find decent clothes for the life of me. Now, here's where I get really annoyed- my more voluptuous friends have the same problems finding clothes that fit and are attractive. *I* can't find clothes, *they* can't find clothes, so I really want to know, where are all the women who can?! I don't know any!
There, now I got that off my chest.
The amaryllis bloomed overnight, two huge bursts of scarlet. There's another bud on the way up, and the paperwhites should bloom any day now. Since I began to cull the garden because of the whiteflies, I found that the idea of an apartment without plants was just too depressing, it would be like no one lived here. So at the farmer's market Sir got me these two, and we might pick up a hyacinth tomorrow. They should all have bloomed and faded by the flower show, so I'll cull them just a couple of days beforehand, as well as santize all the pots, and the garden areas. Hopefully, I'll be able to get it done right this time, every seedling will get a shower as soon as it enters the house, and I'll be keeping a close watch for pests.
luminatte sent me some information about cetificate and degree programs in herbalism, and I sent off for the catalog, but it looks like that plan is going on the back burner for a while. Sir has the opportunity to get a Master's degree in his field (can't recall what the program title is), and while his company does tutition reimbursement, we have to pay out first, and we really can't do both at the same time. I'm happy for him though, it's going to mean good things for him in terms of salary and job security, two things in short supply these days. Besides, I can continue my private studies easily enough on my own, and am in no hurry. Having him studying will also free up some private time for me in the evenings once I make sure he has everything he needs, which will allow me more time for my own studies and projects, too. Good deal all round.

Date: 2004-01-09 02:53 pm (UTC)It's very annoying. There is this odd assumption that if you are more voluptuous, you have gargantuan breasts, and ridiculously long arms and legs... =/
