Oct. 7th, 2004 12:46 amThe gods just keep giving with one hand and taking with the other, I swear. Sunday was a truly, truly amazing day - an all day music festival in Battery Park. I'd neer been there before, and it's utterly lovely, like no park I'd ever seen before. The stage was set up so that when you looked just past it, you were looking straight across the Hudson at Liberty Island. It was a fairly small setting, just a medium sized patch of grass where people set up blankets, under an impossibly blue, cloudless sky. Dar Williams played, and the day was ended with Cherish the Ladies. Perfect.
One interesting thing I noted was the number of women in the audience knitting, myself included. I'm blind as a bat, but I can name a popular shawl pattern I see someone working on fifty feet away.:) One girl and I got to talking, and we're going to see about getting together for our own stitch 'n bitch, as now the COC has moved to Brooklyn, which is just too far for me. (mehmehmeh)
The week has been sort of quiet, with random errands and such, nothing major. However, we locked ourselves out tonight, and had to get the lock broken in order to get back in, which will cost us. (mehmeh) Also, LJ was crashing my old browser, so I've installed Firefox, and am getting used to that. The install was tetchy, though, which is why I've been offline for a couple of days. However, Firefox is looking pretty nice, so it works out in the end.
I'm not going to Rhinebeck (NY Sheep and Wool Festival) after all. (mehmehmehmehmeh) It would just cost too much, in terms of finding a place to stay, and the effort of having to talk myself out of spending money (and Sir's own instinct to indulge me silly) would need to be on overdrive. Plus, we will be going to the PA renfaire before the end of the month, where I will be buying the major part of Sir's birthday presents (already got him a few small things, but want him to indulge himself at the faire). It would be unwise in the extreme to overdo such things, so Rhinebeck will just have to wait a year. (did I mention 'meh'?)
