Aug. 16th, 2003 07:53 pmFaire was quite nice, but somewhat strange, too. I needn't have even bothered worrying about a costume - my outfit today was a set I picked up at a street vendor - a rose colored top with ruffled sleeves that laced up bodice like (only more loosely) in front, and laced together in back like a halter, with a rose skirt sewn in panels, the panels split a little above my knee, and reached my ankles. A pretty outfit, obviously a fantasy piece.
Many faire employees thought I was one of them because of it. Bristol, back in Chicago, had *much" stricter rules about employees wearing period clothing, and because most of my friends worked faire, that rubbed off on me. I have quite a few outfits that will work just fine.
It's actually a smaller faire than Bristol, which surprised me, but Sir ran into quite a few old friends, which made him happy, and we seem to have made a new one, a maska rtist who is very interested in getting into a more 'fetish' market. She sculpts masks of leather and paints them, beautiful things they are. There was a similar vendor at Bristol, and I loved them. We bought a somewhat unusual mask from her today - called "Precious", it has no eye cutouts. The world's loveliest blinfold, essentially, just trying it on in the shop made me feel very soft inside, a reaction I can't quite explain, but it makes me happy just to think about it.
Oh! In other news,
firinel is a terribly nifty person - I got a card in the mail today, a beautiful fairy painting. It was a get-well card from Fin. That made my day.:)
