I recently put together a Myspace page in order to keep in contact with my sister, which is working about as well as expected - that is, it's not.:) I'd pretty much ignored Myspace as a site until that, but have since developed an intense dislike of it. I *loathe* webpages that play music when I open them, rather than asking me if I want it to play (I don't.), and most profiles seem to have just the wrong combination of background and text, making them impossible to read. Add that to the near constant error messages and site failures, and I'm convinced Myspace is where bad web designers go to die.

Myspace also seems to be a haven for all sorts of spam, mostly garage bands trying to get attention. However, a local artist sent a message to me asking for some modeling work. Since I pulled my profile from the professional sites I assume he just looks for every new NYC female profile, but I admit it was rather surprising, since I used to see a lot of that. However, it's a prints-for-time arrangement, and I don't do those anymore, except in the case of personal friends or truly exceptional artists, and he was, well, neither. Sir and I briefly spoke of my going back into modeling, but I tossed the idea pretty quickly - because of new obscenity laws the markets can't be that great, insex.com is gone, for instance (i regret missing out on working for them, honestly) and it takes too much time out of the day, and is too physically taxing for me to consider anythng less than my full rates. (for those of you coming in late, I spent some time working as a fetish/art model in Chicago and NY)

I do kind of miss the work, though. Photo shoots are some of the funniest experiences I've ever had, and really transformative, especially to someone with a mess of body issues. Seeing this everday skin transformed into something entirely outside of my experience through the filter of the artists eye is amazing, and really helped open me to the potential of my body to be a thing of beauty. Dance can acheive that too, I think, and I've been feeling a longing to get back into dancing. There's a 6 session flamenco workshop coming up in October, which I plan on attending. I'm looking forward to it.

Idiot web designers are why I keep the sound on my computer turned off until I really need it. I got tired of nearly jumping out of my chair at random moments.

Myspace is a cesspit. I avoid it at all costs. Every once in a while, I hear of something/someone cool over there, but I refuse to check it out. It's just not worth it. I see plenty enough cat vomit over the course of a normal week - I don't need to go deliberately seeking out more.

Myspace is useful for me to keep in touch, but it is annoying. You can switch your preferences not to play music when viewing a page.

They're still around, shooting in (I think) the same studio - just under the name HardTied.com. Same basic stuff. I like it almost as much.
